SnapShots of Grace: Prophecy and Sunny

By Danny Woodall

And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh. (Revelations 19:21)

Sunny, our Sun Cornier squawks. He’s out of food, or out of the nuggets, he likes. On the next trip to the grocery store, I’ll go down aisle fourteen and pick up a box of bird food. I reach for the box, and think of Revelations 19:21. The enemies of God, which followed the Beast and the False Prophet, will end up as bird food. Instead of being packed in a cardboard box, they will be scattered across the plains of Israel as a buffet for the birds of the air. Well-meaning folks sometimes misunderstand the promise of Christ’s return, but that doesn’t take away from the truth of His return.

We know that Christ will return, because the Bible tells us he will return in the book of Acts. “Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.” (Acts 1:11) There isn’t any reason to doubt any of the future prophecies in the Bible because of the many prophecies already fulfilled. The Second Coming of Christ is an event that is itched in God’s celestial calendar. This time he will return as Kings of Kings instead of the Suffering Servant. The return of Christ is one thing we can depend on.

While the return is certain, we don’t know when He will return. Any serious study of Bible Prophecy should start with this verse found in Matthew 24:36, But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. (Matthew 24:36) No one can deny the fact that the return of Israel as nation is an important end time sign, and biblical names and places fill our nightly news. Still no one knows when Christ will return. Christ is more interested that we spread the Good News, than whether we figure out the names of the two witnesses in Revelation. The events are in line, and the rapture is the final trigger, which will start the events, which end in the return of Christ.

Prophecies are in the Bible to offer us encouragement. A basic knowledge of Bible prophecy is helpful for Christians. While many non-believers think that if they’re good, God will take care of them in the end, they are lost when it comes to explaining today’s events. We can show them why we are not troubled, because of what God has in store for us, and tell them of the Good News. Christ’s return is only good news for those who have accepted Him. Prophecy can offer believers hope when times get tough. The truth stated by an old preacher, is still true today, “In the end we win.” So while the world goes from one crisis to another. We know that God is in control. Nothing has caught Him by surprise.

We are not to pack our spiritual bags and do nothing. Instead, we are to tell everyone of God’s plan of salvation. I hope to skip the “dirt nap”, but if Israel signs a peace treaty this year or next, I know it might not be THE treaty. I do know that the Bible ends with God on His throne. The Devil is defeated, and the saints of God will live forever in Heaven. The journey of grace lands on the streets of gold.
